Statement of Faith

We are committed to living out our Statement of Faith! Our mission is Loving People into the Family of God.

Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.

One God

We believe that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit.

Our Hope

We believe in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is in Christ, at His return.

Repentance

We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

Regeneration

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

Healing

We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for the human body in answer to believing prayer.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.

Sanctification

We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.

Our PHILOSophy

We invite you to explore our PHILOSophy and join us in our pursuit of living out our faith in boldness and passion.

  • God is love and loves us unconditionally

1 John 4:16, 19 says: And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.  We love Him because He first loved us.

  • Everyone is worthy of love

Everyone is deserving of love no matter who they are, where they are, what they’ve done, or what they’ve failed to do. Love is not limited. Love reaches all places and people.

Ephesians 3:17-19 That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

  • Jesus showed his love for us

Jesus’ love is shown through his incarnation, death, burial and resurrection.

Jesus left heaven, to come to a wicked earth. He became flesh (incarnation), and gave his life for us because of love! Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

  • Showing love is our identity as believers

We are called to love others through serving, giving, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Love cannot just be in words only. Love must be shown by deeds. Love is the defining characteristic of Christians.

John 13:35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

Galatians 6:10 As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

2 Corinthians 8:1-2, 24 Moreover, brethren, we make known to you the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia: that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality. Therefore show to them, and before the churches, the proof of your love and of our boasting on your behalf.

John 21:17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.”

  • Spiritual gifts are fueled by love

We diligently pursue spiritual gifts out of a love for God and the benefit of others.

Philos Church is Spirit-filled and Spirit-driven church that embraces the person and operation of the Holy Spirit. Spiritual gifts are just that: gifts from the Holy Spirit! Any gift from God is good, so spiritual gifts are good (not bad or spooky). And these gifts are given, pursued, and used because of love.

1 Corinthians 12:31; 13:1, 13 But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
